as i'm leaving home
i swallow a river stone
thought i'd seen my father drive away
wiping something from his eye
these moments lightly touch my heart

call me and i am an eagle
above the faded colours of our land
eucalypts with blackened trunks
and wild oats the colour of the sand
of the river my father and i sat by
runs to the place with the look-out view
and that's where i think of you

where you can see life in all its glory
as you listen, listen to human stories

and the road runs down
to the valley town
the sun shines through the shadows and

his feathers lightly touch her heart

as her fingers lightly touch his heart
